Kedvenc pipacsunk közeli rokona a kerti mák (Papaver somniferum), amelynek a sötétlila nemesített változata ez a gyönyörű variáció, a „Lauren’s Grape”. Nyílás után a sima mákhoz hasonlóan nagy kerek mákgubókat képez, amiket szárazvirág csokrokban remekül lehet alkalmazni. Nagyon elegáns virág, könnyen nevelhető és biztosan a csodájára fognak járni a szomszédok 🙂 A kerti mák eredetileg a Mediterránumban őshonos, de már nagyon régen termesztik Magyarországon is, hiszen sok magyar ételünk fontos alapanyaga. De nem csak mi, hanem a beporzók is nagyon szeretik 🙂

Sow the seeds in spring or autumn in prepared soil or pots. Do not cover the seeds with soil, they will germinate in the light. Sow them in their permanent place. Water them. Keep the soil moist for the first few weeks. Flower as an annual through spring sowing 8-10 weeks after sowing, flowering as a seedling in autumn sowing and flowering the following year. Delight in the spectacle!
TIP: sown before/when the spring bulbs flower, the annuals will flower just as the spring bulbs are disappearing and will cover the drying foliage of the bulbs.
