Common lizard grass (Prunella vulgaris) 0,1g, ~125 seeds

875 Ft

Prunella vulgaris is a native Hungarian wildflower, which is most often found in grassland communities. It flowers from May until the end of summer, and once established it spreads with its tendrils. It prefers sunny or semi-shady places and a more humid environment. It has long been cultivated for its astringent and wound-healing properties, but its leaves can also be made into tea. It has also been used in the past to treat laryngitis, hence the name. Pollinators are very fond of it, as they are of almost all labiate plants. Among its many folk names, the interesting thing about the name plumleaf is that it was a mistranslation of the Latin name Prunella, meaning glowing wick, which someone associated with the Latin word prunus, and so called it plumleaf or plum-plum.

Sow the seeds in spring or autumn in prepared soil or pots. You can also sow the seeds directly in their permanent location, but it is a good idea to grow them as seedlings to increase the germination rate. Do not cover the seeds with soil, or only very thinly, as they will germinate in the light. Water them. Keep the soil moist during the first few weeks of germination. In early spring sometimes in the first year, and in autumn sowing flower the following year.
