Sage (Salvia pratensis) 1g, ~500 seeds
875 Ft
The field sage(Salvia pratensis) is one of our most beautiful wild flowers, just like the sage of the Liga. The field sage is slightly larger in stature and has larger flowers than the sage, but has a similar purple colour. You may also see horticultural varieties from time to time. Sage is known for its interesting pollination mechanism, whereby the bee bee crawling in for nectar moves the lower stamen, which moves the upper stamen, causing the pollinator to spread pollen on its back. The stamen bends down and comes into contact with the pollen collected from the other flower, thus pollination takes place. All sage is a favourite of pollinators and no pollinator-friendly garden is complete without it. Also available in the webshop are Lime Sage, Hungarian Sage, Austrian Sage, Muscatel Sage and Medical Sage.
Features:
- other names: shaggy flower, horse sorrel, meadow sage, wild sage or scarlet sage

Sow the seeds in spring or autumn in prepared soil or pots. You can sow the seeds directly in their permanent location or grow seedlings to increase the germination rate. Cover the seeds very thinly with soil, pressing them down a little. Water them. Keep the soil moist for the first 1-2 weeks. Perennial through spring sowing will not flower until the following year (rarely as early as late summer), and autumn sowing the following year. Enjoy the spectacle!
