Moth oxtail (Verbascum blattaria "Albiflorum") 0,1g, ~500 seeds

875 Ft

The moth-flowering ox-tail (Verbascum blattaria) is a wildflower native to our country, and the white-flowered variety is the colour variety "Albiflorum". It is a very graceful plant with beautiful white flowers with a purplish tinge in the centre. The wild variety has yellow flowers and used to be used as a moth deterrent: dried and put in the chamber to keep moths away. Its flowering is similar to that of the purple ox-tail(Verbascum phoenicum): there are only a few flowers at a time, and they are higher and higher up as the plant grows. Like the other ox-eye daisies, the moth ox-eye daisy is a biennial plant, growing only 'green' bracts in its first year and flowering from its second year onwards. However, it may sometimes flower in its first year. If left to mow, it sows its tiny seeds and will remain in your garden for a long time.

Sow the seeds in spring or autumn in prepared soil or pots. You can also sow the seeds directly in their permanent location, but it is a good idea to grow them as seedlings to increase the germination rate. Don't cover the tiny seeds with soil or only very thinly, they germinate in the light. Water them. Keep the soil moist during the first few weeks of germination. If sown in early spring, they will not flower until the following year, but they may flower the first year, and if sown in autumn, they usually flower the following year.

Admire the spectacle!
