Mallow (Malva sylvestris ssp. mauritiana) 1g, ~230 seeds
875 Ft
The mallow (Malva sylvestris ssp. mauritania) is a subspecies of the forest mallow(Malva sylvestris), which is a European species native to the south of us. Although it can almost be regarded as a native species, as it has been known and cultivated in Hungary for centuries for its medicinal properties. As a medicinal herb, the dried petals of the mallow are brewed as a tea, which can be used for coughs, asthma and other upper respiratory ailments. Last but not least, it's a fantastic source of pollen: it blooms all summer long until spring frosts and pollinators can often be seen almost drowning in its pollen 🙂 Unlike perennial wood mallow or papaya, it's an annual species in our conditions, but it's a very good self-seeder, so once it's established in our garden we can enjoy it for a long time.

Sow the seeds in spring or autumn in prepared soil or pots. You can sow the seeds directly in their permanent location or grow seedlings to increase the germination rate. Cover the seeds with soil. Sprinkle them with water. Keep the soil moist for the first 1-2 weeks. Flower as an annual through flowering in the first year. Delight in the spectacle!
