Buttercup (Ranunculus arvensis) 1g, ~180 seeds

875 Ft

Buttercup(Ranunculus arvensis) is a native Hungarian wildflower, which, like poppies, cornflowers and larkspur, is most often found on the edges of wheat fields. Unfortunately, this yellowish-petalled beauty is rarely seen nowadays, as it has become quite scarce in nature thanks to herbicides. Unlike the other buttercups, the seed buttercup is an annual species, which is why it does not spread very widely. Its spring and early summer flowering is a beautiful, bright yellow colour for beekeepers. Not at all fussy about soil. It is worth sowing in its permanent location, as it is not a transplantable plant. Like all buttercups, it contains toxic compounds.

Features:

  • other names: goldenrod, frog flower, chickweed, cuckoo flower, yellow flower, cornflower, chicken's foot
  • Latin name: Ranunculus arvensis
  • family: Ranunculuceae
  • seeds origin: Hungary
  • pollination factor: 9/10

In spring or autumn, sow the seeds in a prepared plot or pot in their final location. Cover the seeds with soil. Water them. Keep the soil moist during the first few weeks of germination. If sown in early spring, flower 8-10 weeks after sowing. Delight in the spectacle!

TIP: sown before/when the spring bulbs flower, the annuals will flower just as the spring bulbs are disappearing and will cover the drying foliage of the bulbs.
